 Grades and Ages
Junior footballers are graded according to the age they will have become during the calendar year. These can differ from the school year. A player's grade is (2012 minus the year of birth). e.g. a player born in 2006 will be in SonicSixers (for 5 and 6 year olds), if born in 2005 then will be in Super7s (our grade 7), if born in 2004 then will be in grade 8.

 Information on our Football Grades
SonicSixers Grade is for players born in 2006 and a few from 2007.  The games are at Karori Park every Saturday morning from 8.30 to 9.30am.  Boots and shin pads are essential.  Players are to wear clothing appropriate for the conditions. Super7s is our Club's 7th Grade and is run on a similar format to SonicSixers but expertly designed for the older children.  The format is coaching followed by competitive games at the same location.  This format enhances individual player development and enjoyment for the children playing football.  Super7s meet at Karori Park on Saturday mornings from 9.30 to 10.30am. The coaching and games are played on Karori Park on Fields #2 and #3.  We encourage our parents to take great care of the grass.  Adults walking back and forth on one line make a much bigger impact on the grass than the players. We call these two grades format our Player Development Programme or PDP.  The format is the first half is spent on enjoyable football coaching appropriate to the age. This follows our own well developed curriculum.  In the second half of each Saturday session games are played in an internal competitive draw. The emphasis with these small sided games (five players vs five players) is to encourage maximum time with a ball for each player. Every player has a ball to train with during the Saturday sessions.  Our Gear Convenor has a supply of second grade balls if you would like one for home use.

In 2012 Grade 8 will also be run along similar lines to Super 7s, meeting at Karori Park each week. For more information on changes to the grading system for 2012, please look at this page.

 Juniors' game playing times
Grades 9 to 14 play in the Wellington district league competition. These games begin at varying times on Saturday mornings according to the published weekly draw.  The draw is published weekly by our federation (www.capitalfootball.org.nz).  This is published during the week, sometimes earlier where games are played away on the artificial turfs.  The final version of the draw to work with is the one published in Thursday's DomPost and itself is subject to alteration, postponement and cancellation on Saturday mornings via radio.

 Cancellations and Transfers
These are given every half hour starting at 7.00am on NewstalkZB (freq 1035AM) on Saturday mornings. The day could be beautifully fine; however there may have been heavy rain earlier in the week and/or the Council may have closed the grounds.  Your team may also have a ground change - it always pays to listen to these.  Coaches and Grade Coordinators also find out by listening to the radio.  Capital Football may also place cancellation information on their website.

Club Committee details are on the Club website
There are two tables: Committee and Grade Coordinators. All parents/players are welcome at any time at Committee meetings.  We are an incorporated society and hold an annual general meeting in March each year.  We have a Club Executive that oversees and governs matters relating to our whole Club (Juniors and Seniors). Ten Grade Coordinators manage team building following any selections and locating coaches and managers.  The website, your team coach and Grade Coordinator are the source of regular information and answers for you during the season.
