Competition Structure Changes 2012
The implementation of New Zealand Football's Whole of Football Plan (WOFP) is resulting in a number of changes to the structure of Capital Football's junior grades for 2012. These changes will affect the majority of our junior players so it is well worth taking the time to familiarise yourself with the new arrangements.
Here we provide a brief grade-by-grade summary for Waterside Karori club members. You are also invited to make use of the following resources for further information:

Please note the information below is a summary of our understanding of the new structure as it has been presented to us, and as such remains subject to confirmation from Capital Football. In addition to the per-grade changes, note also that pitch sizes in all grades 6-12 will be smaller than in previous seasons.
Grades 6-7
- Run inhouse as part of the Player Development Programme (PDP) at Karori Park on Saturday mornings.
- No set teams for the season.
- Skills based games for learning, with a focus on touching the ball and time on the ball
- Weekly team sizes no bigger than 4
Grade 8
- Will be based on PDP run inhouse at Karori Park on Saturday mornings
- No set teams for season
- Skills based games for learning
- Practice during the week, and opportunity to play in 'festival' matches organised by Capital Football some weeks.
- Note there is no longer a formal Capital Football competition for Grade 8.
Grade 9
- Teams arranged into divisions within the grade based on ability, as before
- Teams play two 25-minute matches back-to-back each Saturday, at the same ground.
- Regrading occurs more frequently than in previous years owing to the increased number of fixtures.
- Teams play in region-based zones for the whole season, resulting in less travelling to fixtures.
- League tables will not be published
Grade 10
- Teams arranged into divisions within the grade based on ability, as before
- Teams play two 25-minute matches back-to-back each Saturday, at the same ground.
- Regrading occurs more frequently than in previous years owing to the increased number of fixtures.
- Teams play in region-based zones; higher-ranked teams play against teams in the wider Wellington region later in the season
- League tables will not be published
- The Promo competition will no longer run but there will still be a premier (ie top of grade) competition.
Grade 11
- As per Grade 10 except teams play one 50-minute match each weekend
Grade 12
- The existing format will be retained for 2012 i.e. JPL league continues, but will be discontinued in 2013
Grade 13
- Same format as in 2011 - eleven players per team on full-size pitches
Grade 14
- Same format as in 2011 - eleven players per team on full-size pitches
